Top Level
Domain
A top level domain (TLD) is usually the most basic part
of a domain address. For example, the “.com”, “.tv”, or
“.edu” of a regular website name is the base part of
that domain name. TLD names may sometimes also include a
country abbreviation as well, such as “.us” for the
United States, “.uk” for the UK, or “.br” for Brazil.
The website name is usually connected to the base top
level domain (TLD) name. It is possible to find very
cheap TLD registration on the internet. One of the most
reasonably-priced domain name registrars is Go Daddy.com.
You also can find several others that are registered
with an ICANN organization. You may want to search the
ICANN or Whois directory for more information about
different qualified TLD registration.
Top Level Domain (TLD) Registration Prices and Deals
The most expensive Top Level Domain (TLD) name
registration will vary from time to time depending upon
price adjustments. Often domain registration promotions
are offered for the first year of service through most
domain registrars. Then, subsequent year registration is
usually offered for regular prices. Other discount
packages may be offered, however. For instance, quite a
few Top Level Domain (TLD) registrars will offer
discounts on like domain series, such as those domain
names with extensions of .com, .info, .biz, and so
forth. Usually to qualify for a “group” discount on
domain names the same exact domain needs to be available
for all of the extensions sough.
Another type of deal that is offered by domain name
registrars is that of free hosting with a Top Level
Domain (TLD) registration. This helps make the creation
of a domain name more economical for most people. In
fact, usually a free e-mail service is provided with
most website domain hosting accounts.
Additional Top Level Domain (Tld) Info
Often people or companies will purchase a bulk supply of
cheap domain names, build them up, and/or sell them in a
domain auction. The more traffic that a website domain
receives the more valuable that domain will usually be.
Existing website domains may also be parked to make
money. Parking a domain for a profit usually involved
enrolling in some type of cash domain parking program
through a domain name registrar. Money is made when
people visiting a parked domain page click on an
advertising link. Sometimes Top Level Domain (TLD) names
are purchased for purpose of redirection to another site
page with an extremely long URL. This is usually the
case with sub domain addresses, such as blog site
addresses.
