Dynamic
DNS
Dynamic DNS is a type of server that allows any
information date that is save in a name server to be
updated immediately. This particular DNS service is
usually used on computers with varying IP addresses. It
is possible to use the Dynamic DNS system for
establishing connections with other sites on the
Internet without knowing the IP address of a specific
computer with the use of this system as well. This
system is usually used by people who are connected to
one of many different Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
Dynamic DNS hosting services are provided by most Domain
Name Service (DNS) providers. The best DNS hosting
and/or Dynamic hosting services are provided by clients
in more localized geographical locations. The process by
which a dynamic DNS system is hooked up is quite
technical in nature. There are a series of protocol that
need to be met in order to ensure that the use of a
Dynamic DNS system is secure for users.
There are different types of programs that help Dynamic
DNS users to be able to feel safe about updated DNS
system information. One of the types of programs used to
verify this information is TSIG (Transaction Signature),
along with a hash system such as a HMAC-MD5 Hash Key. An
alternative system has been developed my Microsoft in
order to ensure DNS safety by way of the Dynamic DNS
protocol. Microsoft’s GSS-TSIG uses Kerberos, which
eliminates the need for the installation of a hash key.
Unfortunately Dynamic DNS does not work well with
earlier versions of BIND (a very important protective
program that some site owners and web hosting providers
use for protection against DNS attack). However, later
versions of BIND are compatible with quite a number of
Dynamic DNS servers. There are both paid and free
Dynamic DNS services that exist. There are also firewall
services that may be compatible with the Dynamic DNS
service. More and more updates are made every single day
regarding the use of this type of DNS service.
If you are a site owner and want to learn more about
implementing Dynamic DNS you will want to do further
research. You can visit tech review sites to learn what
others are saying about different types of DNS services,
and different brands of Dynamic DNS hosting. While you
are searching for Dynamic DNS info you will also find
quite a bit of help for the implementation of other
domain name service software as well. All of this will
help you create a more secure site that will not be
taken from you.
