Domain
Search
There are a couple of reasons why you would want to
conduct a brief Domain Search (Lookup). One of those
reasons is because you would want to make sure it is
available for purchase. You may also be communicating
with a particular company or server and you want to make
sure that you are receiving messages from a legitimate
IP address (the numeric translation of an Internet
domain address).
Usually people who are looking for an available domain
to purchase can just sign up with a reputable website
host who owns an adequate enough domain search database.
Usually most ICANN accredited domain registrars have
this capability. In fact, before you attempt to purchase
a domain name you generally are expected to complete a
quick availability search. This is true no matter who
you purchase your domain from-Yahoo, Go Daddy, Google,
or any other web hosting, e-mail, or ISP (Internet
Service Provider).
If you are inquiring about more than one domain name you
may also have the opportunity to perform a bulk domain
lookup. In doing so you would usually type in as little
or as many domain names as you want in a box. Some of
these may possibly be misspellings of the same domain
name while others may be totally unrelated to each
other.
Performing a bulk name search can help you find out how
many of the domain names you are interested in are
available. It speeds up the process of choosing
available domain names and eliminates the need to just
type on one or two different domains in at a time before
you search. Both free and premium (paid for) domains are
offered for sale. The premium domains usually come with
a free or cheap web hosting packages. These are not
ad-supported (no ads are displayed by domain registrar
on your site pages) and are usually more reliable that
free domain names.
Furthermore, the data bases for free domains usually are
usually very limited, meaning that not all domains that
are already taken are included in them. This is not true
in every case, but is true quite often.
Additional Domain Name Search Info
Usually most domain names are about four to six letters
long, and some are as long as ten letters. Knowing this
you may want to search the availability of certain four
letter domains if you want to make sure they have not
been taken. It can be tough to find a four-letter domain
that has not already been taken. Besides, usually a six
to ten letter long domain name is more appropriate.
