registration was widely available, along with free web
hosting. This was true during the early days of using
the Internet, and before the days when most people had
no idea how profitable making money off of the Internet
could be. Free domain registration is still available,
and so is free website hosting. However, usually the
type of service that is offered by these free offers is
very limited.
For instance, usually site owners who use free website
services are only allowed one to five pages.
Additionally, many of the pages are loaded with ads,
which leave little room for profit for site owners who
want to participate in affiliate marking. Generally
speaking paid website services are more profitable for
individuals and businesses. Likewise, these services are
usually of a higher quality and they are more reliable.
When a person pays for website hosting and domain name
services they are usually given an add-free website.
This means that no ads are already placed on site pages
for visitors to click on. This allows for more profit to
be made by individual site owners. Generally speaking,
paid websites usually receive a higher ranking in search
engine results. There are some exceptions to this rule,
of course, and to the rule that usually paid services
are better.
There are a few free options that are quite valuable for
people that are free. For instance, blogger.com is one
site that allows users to make money for free. Usually
individual users’ blog sites that are powered by this
company are not ad supported. The reason why could be
speculated. It is more than likely because Blogger.com
is owned by a large company that uses it to draw traffic
to Google, which is one of the largest (or even the
largest) search engine in the world.
Sometimes free services such as Myspace.com or Yahoo 360
can be profitable for people as well. There may be
certain guidelines for promotion that exist on these
sites, since these are largely for personal use.
However, it is possible to put website links on these
sites that link to business service websites. There are
also some free website services such as Bravenet.com
where people can build up an attractive profile for
others to see. This is especially true for those who are
involved in making money off of commercial or fine arts.
Generally speaking though, usually site owners are
encouraged to use paid web services. It can save quite a
bit of hassle in the end, and it will provide a higher
guarantee of up time for a published website.
